Adapted from Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay’s 1929 novel of the same name, Pather Panchali went on to win several international awards. Ray’s work has since influenced leading directors like Martin Scorsese, Majid Majidi, Francis Ford Coppola, Quentin Tarantino, James Ivory, and Christopher Nolan.
