8. Amarcord (1973)
Directed by Federico Fellini, this is about an Italian boy growing up in a village full of eccentric people. Amarcord won an Academy Award as the best foreign language film. It’s often considered a masterpiece by Felini, made at the peak of his filmmaking career. Eminent film critic Roger Ebert described Amarcord as an “absolutely breathtaking filmmaking.”
