The 83-year old actor personally considers this to be his best non-Ray film. He plays the dedicated swimming coach Khitish Sinha aka Khidda is this sports drama film about a swimmer (played by Sriparna Banerjee) from the lower middle class who battles adversaries to emerge as a champion.  The film’s catchphrase, ‘Fight Koni, fight,’ is perhaps one of the most remembered lines in Bengali cinema. Bengalis often use the phrase to inspire themselves against mounting hurdles. Directed by Saroj Dey, Kony was adapted from a Moti Nandi novel, and was made on a shoestring budget.
