This Day That Year: Sushmita Sen Thanks Fans
RBN Web Desk: Bollywood actress Sushmita Sen, who is famously remembered for being the first Indian to win the Miss Universe crown, has thanked her fans and the people of her country on the 24th anniversary of winning the prestigious contest.
In a message on her social media, Sushmita said, she was 18 at the time of winning the crown. Nothing much has changed in all these years. At 42 she is still a ‘Miss’ with a ‘Universe’ inside her, Sushmita said, adding that Philippines is her ‘second home.’ She thanked the people of India and Philippines for their unconditional love and belonging.
The final of the 1994 Miss Universe contest was held on 21 May at Manila. The event was broadcast live in India with millions tuning in to witness Sushmita emerge the winner.
