Rupankar Signals Akaal Bodhan with Jaago Uma
RBN Web Desk: Mahalaya is still 142 days away but popular singer Rupankar Bagchi has already signaled Akaal Bodhan with Jaago Uma. The song was released on the internet a few minutes ago and perfectly captures the spirit of the biggest festival of Bengalis living in India.
The Uma title track has been written and composed by Anupam Roy.
Uma is inspired from the real-life events of seven-year old St George resident Evan Leversage who battled an inoperable brain tumour. The film tells the story of a terminally ill girl, Uma, who wants to hold Durga Puja in her house much ahead of the usual time in September-October. Uma is directed by Srijit Mukherji.
The audience had already got a hint of the song in the film’s official teaser which released on 13 April.
The song may just be an encore moment for Rupankar, who was earlier adjudged the best male playback singer in the 2014 National Film Awards for the song E Tumi Kemon Tumi, from Srijit’s Jaatishwar which released the same year. Jaatishwar’s music was composed by Kabir Suman.
The video of Jaago Uma ends with a picture of Evan with his mother Nicole Wellwood.
Uma releases on 1 June.
