Karan Johar in Fresh Nepotism Row
RBN Web Desk: While the film fraternity happily welcomed the posters of Dhadak, a new Karan Johar film that has Jhanvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khattar in the lead, the social media was up in arms against the director as to how long he will promote nepotism in Bollywood.
Jhanvi is the daughter of producer Boney Kapoor and actress Sridevi, while Ishaan is half-brother of actor Shahid Kapoor.

Dhadak, according to industry sources, is a remake of the Marathi blockbuster Sairat which had Rinku Gupta in the lead. The actress won a National Award for her performance in the film.
Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut had earlier labelled Karan Johar as the torchbearer of nepotism. While she was praised for her impudence, the debate later snowballed into a major controversy with almost everyone from the industry blurting their opinion.
Karan Johar himself added fuel to fire when he and actor Saif Ali Khan (yesteryear actress Sharmila Tagore’s son) and Varun Dhawan (Bollywood director Varun Dhawan’s son), had shouted “Nepotism rocks,” while hosting an awards show. The social media was awash with angry responses and the three had to apologise for the comment. The Kuch Kuch Hota Hai director went on to say that he wanted to close the chapter once for all. He clarified to the media that was he meant was “talent rocks” and not nepotism.
Here’s how Twitteratti reacted to the announcement of the new film.
