Popular Bengali Actress Grilled in Connection with Diamantaire Murder

RBN Web Desk: Popular actress Devoleena Bhattacharjee was grilled by the Mumbai Police for several hours in connection with the murder of diamantaire Rajeshwar Udani. Devoleena was summoned to the Ghatkopar police station and questioned about the incident. It may be recalled that Udani’s decomposed body was recovered from the forests in Raigad district of Maharashtra.

Devoleena is a prominent Hindi television actress who has been a part of successful shows like Diya Aur Baati Hum and Ye Hai Mohabbatein. She played the lead in the hugely popular TV serial Saath Nibhana Saathiya which was aired on a private general entertainment channel from 2012 to 2017. The 28-year old Bengali actress is currently playing a key role in the serial Laal Ishq.

Rajeshwar, a leading diamond merchant, was reported missing from his office since 28 November. His family filed a missing diary with the police and a search was launched. Rajeshwar’s mobile was tracked in Rabale in Navi Mumbai before it went unreachable. On 4 December, his family suspected something was wrong, and the police registered a case of kidnapping.

The businessman’s chauffeur informed the police that Rajeshwar had asked him to be dropped off at Pant Nagar market. Another vehicle was waiting at the spot and Rajeshwar got into it. His badly decomposed body was recovered on 5 December sans any identity papers. His son identified the body from the clothes Rajeshwar was wearing.

While police remained tightlipped about Devoleena’s role in the incident, an officer in the investigation team disclosed that the businessman was regularly spotted in bars, and was in close touch with many women from the glamour and entertainment industry.
