Shooting Halted for First Shonku Film, Unit Returns
RBN Web Desk: Shooting of Professor Shonku O El Dorado, the first Shonku film based on the story Nakur Babu of El Dorado written by author-filmmaker Satyajit Ray, has been halted. The project is being helmed by Sandip Ray and the film is expected to release in December 2019. Dhritman Chatterjee plays the eccentric scientist and inventor in the film.
According to sources, Sandip was in Brazil for the outdoor shoot of the film since 10 November but had to cut short the schedule after Dhritiman fell ill. Continuing the shoot was not possible without him, since the actor is playing the titular character, sources added.
Sandip told the media that shooting in the Amazon had commenced from 15 November. But the 73-year old actor soon fell ill and work had to be stopped. Shooting resumed after a few days but Dhritiman fell ill again and the unit had to return to Kolkata, Sandip informed, adding that they had shot parts of the film at Manus and Sao Paolo.
