Soumik Haldar to Turn Director Next Year

Kolkata: Senior cinematographer Soumik Haldar, the man behind the lens in several blockbuster Bengali films, is all set to don the director’s hat in 2019. He has been planning to make a film for quite some time now.

Speaking to RBN, Soumik said, “I wanted to be a director and had announced my plans rather hurriedly some years back. People in the industry showed a lot of interest in it and inquired about the project. I realised that I have to be well prepared before the camera starts rolling.”

That aside, Soumik said, things got delayed because of his shooting commitments for other directors.

“I am now firm to start working on it next year,” he said.

Soumik had earlier wielded the microphone for Barood, a film for the television, produced by Prosenjit Chatterjee.

“I have two scripts ready for my debut film. One is a thriller, while the other is on human relationships,” Soumik said, adding that he will pitch both stories to production houses.
