Shankar Mudi to Open Shop, Finally
RBN Web Desk: Shankar Mudi, written and directed by Aniket Chattopadhyay, is all set for a theatrical release. The film has actor-director Kaushik Ganguly in the title role.
Shankar Mudi is a political film and was stuck in the cans for a long time. It was shown at the 2016 Kolkata International Film Festival which was the only time that the audience in the city got to see the film. The story of the film revolves around a locality in suburban Kolkata, and how the lives of the people living there change when a mall comes up.
According to Aniket, the livelihood of thousands of small-time traders in the country has been greatly affected, ever since big brands set shop in the metros. While many of these traders have wound up their businesses, others are barely managing to survive. Shankar Mudi, the humble neighbourhood grocer, is one of them. The film shows the ill effects of foreign direct investment in India, Aniket said, adding that Kaushik has returned a stellar performance as Shankar Mudi.
