Organisers Scrap Abhijeet’s New Jersey Puja Concert

RBN Web Desk: In a direct fallout of an airhostess alleging Abhijeet Bhattacharya of sexual harassment at a pub in Kolkata in 1998, the Kallol New Jersey Durga Puja (NJDP) committee has scrapped a concert of the prominent playback singer, scheduled to be held on 21 October. The allegation against the singer resurfaced recently, to which Abhijeet said, he was not born at the time of the alleged incident.

It may be recalled that the authorities of the hotel where the pub was located, had barred the singer from entering its premises, when the airhostess reported the matter to them.

The executive committee of NJDP, in a message on its website, said that the “decision has been taken on the grounds of maintaining high ethical standards and reputation of our organization.”

An NJDP executive committee member told RBN that Abhijeet has had a history in alleged sexual misconduct whenever he toured the US for concert. He would often pester the organisers for expensive wines and has been allegedly involved with a number of women. Most organisers in the US had a tough time dealing with the singer, who would often refuse to take the stage unless his demands were met, the NJDP executive committee member said.

It has been learn that NJDP has already cancelled the contract with Abhijeet for the concert.
