Kishore Kumar Junior Trailer Irks Mohammed Rafi Fans
Kolkata: A section of fans of Mohammed Rafi are miffed over the portrayal of the legendary Indian playback singer in the trailer of director Kaushik Ganguly’s upcoming film Kishore Kumar Junior. The trailer was launched on 16 September and has already got more than four lakh hits on video streaming site YouTube.
Debasis Chakraborty, founder of the city-based Mohammed Rafi Foundation, told RBN, “We have taken a strong objection to a scene in the trailer which implies that Rafi is a Pakistani singer. The film can be released only when that scene is deleted from the final cut.”
Kishore Kumar Junior is about the life of a version artiste of the iconic playback singer. Prosenjit Chatterjee plays the title role in the film which also has Aparajita Adhya, Rajesh Sharma, Masood Akhtar, and Lama Halder in other major roles.

Chakraborty said, “We have already informed Rafi’s daughter Yasmin Rafi and his son-in-law in Mumbai about the matter. They have seen the Kishore Kumar Junior trailer and are upset with it. Rafi’s fans across the country are annoyed over the trailer.”
Rafi and Kishore shared an extremely cordial relation with each other with several superhit duets to their credit, Chakraborty said, alleging that the film’s director is trying to forge a rift between the fans of the two hugely popular playback singers. He, however, said that they are ready to hold talks with Ganguly regarding the scene in question.
