Kabir the Winner this Poila Baisakh Weekend

RBN Web Desk: Director Aniket Chattopadhyay’s action thriller Kabir, which has Dev, Rukmini Maitra, Priyanka Sarkar, and Shataf Figar in the lead, has emerged the clear winner this Poila Baisakh weekend, with most of the halls returning houseful shows. The film released on 13 April.

Actor-director Anjan Dutt’s musical drama film Aami Ashbo Phirey was the other big film to release this weekend.

Most of the Kabir shows in leading multiplexes and single screen theatres in and around Kolkata were sold out over the last three days. That aside, many of the daytime shows in the weekdays ahead are either already sold out or are filling up fast, according to a leading online ticketing portal. The film has also attracted 90 percent positive reviews on Google. Should that be any indication, Kabir could well be on its way to become a blockbuster this year.

Kabir has got more number of shows than Aami Ashbo Phirey largely because of Dev’s better brand recall and the interest being generated over the film. While the film has been exhaustively promoted on the social media, Aniket and Dev kept the story closely under wraps.

Dev had earlier said that the second half of the film is diametrically different from the first with a major twist in the end.
