Veteran Actor Shambhu Bhattacharya Dead
Kolkata: Veteran actor Shambhu Bhattacharya breathed his last at a private nursing home in the city yesterday. Shambhu was rushed to the medics on 27 December after he complained of breathing difficulties and chest pain, and was under ventilation since 18 January.
Largely known for villainous roles, Shambhu Bhattacharya will be remembered for his performance in films like Ekhoni, Sagina Mahato, Agnishwar, Sanyasi Raja, Amanush, Dui Purush, Lal Kuthi, Alor Thikana, Marjina Abdulla, Charmurti and others. He was worked with all the leading directors of Bengali cinema, including Tapan Sinha, Dinen Gupta, Shakti Samanta, and Aurobindo Mukhopadhyay.
Besides films, Shambhu was a prominent actor in Bengali theatre and has worked in several stage productions of Utpal Dutt.

His family rued that Shambhu never got due recognition from the Bengali film industry. He was an extremely reserved person and never voiced his grievances.
