Bhobishyoter Bhoot Runs into Legal Trouble
RBN Web Desk: Director Anik Dutta’s Bhobishyoter Bhoot, the purported sequel to his 2012 film Bhooter Bhobishyot, has run into legal and production hurdles. Dutta had recently started shooting for the sequel which features an ensemble cast like the first film.
Bhooter Bhobishyot was a huge hit and ran in packed theatres for several months.
According to sources, in order to repeat the success with the second film of the franchise, a production house bought the rights from the producers of Bhooter Bhobishyot.

The project, however, was a nonstarter.
But the production house swung into action when the producers of the first film announced the launch of Bhobishyoter Bhoot. With a similar sounding name, most people thought it was a sequel to Bhooter Bhobishyot. The house promptly slapped a legal notice to Dutta and his team.
The filmmaker has now claimed that Bhobishyoter Bhoot is a standalone film and not a sequel to the first film. But that has not cleared the air over the rights issue. It was rumoured that scooting for the second film was stalled after Dutta got the legal notice.

But it has now been learnt that the filmmaker has completed shooting of the first leg of Bhobishyoter Bhoot—sequel or not—and is preparing the schedule for the second which is likely to be held in February.
The production house which claims to have the rights of the Bhooter Bhobishyot sequel, sources said, is gearing up to move court.
