London: The Spread the Joy with Tolly Boy campaign has won the 2018 British Asian Media community/charity award for its exemplary service to the community.
The awards were handed over in the city on 31 January.
Westmill Food account director Rakesh Oberoi received the award from lawmaker Martin Day and British singer Juggy D.
The Tolly Boy brand, last year, ran a grassroots campaign to help the Bangladeshi and African communities in UK by supporting groups working towards education, social services, protection and counselling projects. The nationwide campaign saw Tolly Boy rice donate over £20,000 to these charities.
Oberoi, on receiving the award, said: “The campaign has demonstrated the perfect collaboration between the agency, Westmill and our largest wholesaler Wanis. We are proud to have a brand like Tolly Boy that can reach out to the community with a campaign like this. It’s the first time we carried out such a campaign and we are overwhelmed with the way it has worked out.”
Tolly Boy senior brand manager, Steven Perry, said: “The award is a testament to how positively our community focused campaign has been supported by all involved. It is a real acknowledgement of the huge work carried out by the Tolly Boy team, our agency Here and Now 365, along with the African and Asian community groups.”
