Swastika Walks Out of Dupur Thakurpo
RBN Web Desk: Actress Swastika Mukherjee, who landed newfound fame with the hugely popular web-series Dupur Thakurpo, has reportedly quit the project. She won’t be seen in any further episodes on the on-demand digital entertainment channel that was broadcasting the series.
Swastika was all set to reprise her role as Uma Boudi in Dupur Thakurpo for the upcoming season. She was expected to be seen in a double role in the web-series, both as Uma Boudi and a Bhojpuri dancer.

There are rumours that Swastika quit the series because of differences with the production house. She earlier said no to play actor-director Arindam Sil’s wife in Anjan Dutt’s film Finally Bhalobasa. Swastika then quit director Birsa Dasgupta’s under-production film Crisscross because the actress felt she had to jostle for space among the ensemble cast. Both these films and the web-series are being produced by the same house.
Swastika, however, was present at the 12 January event in Kolkata where the production house announced 25 new films investing over ₹100 crore for the next three years.
Industry sources revealed that actress Sreelekha Mitra is likely to replace Swastika in Dupur Thakurpo.
