Now a Double Byomkesh Bakshi?
RBN Web Desk: After directors Anjan Dutt and Arindam Sil successfully adapted Byomkesh Bakshi stories for the big screen and turned them into successful franchises, the fictional detective is all set to get a new spin-off with Debaloy Bhattacharya’s film Bidaay Byomkesh. Production house SVF had announced the film on 12 January, during the mega-launch of their upcoming projects.
But what has now emerged is that Abir Chatterjee, who plays Byomkesh Bakshi in the series directed by Arindam, could be seen in a double role in Bhattacharya’s film. He will play both an aged Byomkesh and his grandson and the duo will solve a murder mystery.

Byomkesh’s grandson is likely to be named Satyaki Bakshi in the film.
What is interesting is that the story is not written by Byomkesh’s creator Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay but has been penned by Bhattacharya himself.
Actress Sohini Sarkar, like in the earlier Byomkesh films directed by Arindam, will reprise her role as the detective’s wife Satyabati.
According to sources, Tota Roy Chowdhury, Sreelekha Mitra, and elocutionist-actor Sujoy Prasad Chatterjee, will be a part of the cast in Bidaay Byomkesh.
