Rumours that the Bhatts were contemplating the sequel were doing the rounds for some time. And now, an Instagram post from the elder Bhatt daughter, has almost lent credence to the speculations.
According to industry sources, Pooja is likely to direct and act in the sequel.
Sadak, directed by Mahesh Bhatt, was the second biggest hit of 1991 and went on to become the seventh highest grossing Hindi film of the nineties. The romantic-action film is largely remembered for the performance of late Sadashiv Amrapurkar as an evil transgender in the role of the main antagonist. It had a groundbreaking musical score from the composer duo of Nadeem Saifi and Shravan Rathod.

Sadak, supposed to release on 13 December 1991, was delayed because of reported last-minute objections from the censor board regarding excessive violence. The film was reedited and reprinted in 72 hours of nonstop work. The new prints, considering the technology available back then, were reached to the distributors in record time. The film finally released a week later.
