Parambrata to Play Anindya Pakrashi

RBN Web Desk: Actor-director Parambrata Chatterjee will play Anindya Pakrashi in the upcoming adaptation of Mani Shankar Mukherjee’s iconic novel Chowringhee. The film will be directed by Srijit Mukherji and is titled Shahjahan Regency.

Jisshu Sengupta was earlier slated to play the role when Srijit announced the film on 29 January. But Jisshu had to opt out of the project as he is yet to fully recover from his gall bladder surgery.

It may be recalled that Biswajit Chattopadhyay had played Anindya Pakrashi in the 1968 adaptation of the same novel by Pinaki Mukherjee. The film has since attained cult status among the Bengali audience.

While announcing the film Srijit had said that Anindya Pakrashi will be seen as a debonair and flamboyant playboy in his film.

In another reversal, Abir Chatterjee, who was earlier slated to play the main protagonist Sankar, will now be seen as Satyasundar (Sata) Bose, the role played by Uttam Kumar in the earlier film. Prosenjit Chatterjee was supposed to play the role initially.

Srijit told the media, Parambrata has always been one of his go-to men, besides Jisshu and Prosenjit. He will fit the role exactly how it has been written, Srijit said, adding that they enjoy a nice tuning with each other.
