Now a Reprise of Basanta Bilap
RBN Web Desk: Talk of romantic comedies and only a handful of films can come even remotely close to Dinen Gupta’s 1972 classic Basanta Bilap. The film, based on a novel by popular Bengali author Bimal Kar, has since attained a cult status among the Bengali audience. It had Aparna Sen, Soumitra Chatterjee, Robi Ghosh, Sumitra Mukherjee, and Anup Kumar in major roles.
Now, 46 years after Basanta Bilap hit the screens, a film having a largely similar name, Abar Basanta Bilap, is reportedly under production. However, it’s not a ladies hostel, but a printing press, named Basanta Bilap, which will be at the centre of all action.

Directors of the film, Ipshita Roy Sarkar and Rajesh Dutta, said that their venture has no connection to the 1972 film but will be a laugh riot. The printing press, they said, is instrumental in taking the story forward.
The duo had earlier directed 61 Garpar Lane which released last year.
