Bollywood Awards World’s Biggest Joke: Saif Ali Khan

RBN Web Desk: Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan termed award ceremonies in the Hindi film industry as the biggest joke in the world. Speaking to the media recently, the Chhote Nawab said, most of these events are fake.

In a career spanning over two decades, Saif Ali Khan has received many accolades, including six Filmfare Awards and one National Award. He is also the recipient of the fourth highest civilian award of the country, Padma Shri, in 2001. Saif has won both popular and critical acclaim for his performances in a wide range of films.

Saif Ali Khan himself has hosted many awards events. The ones with Shah Rukh Khan have been especially popular.

But most of these events, Saif said, are scripted. Anybody in Bollywood can announce an award. They are then fit into appropriate categories. The hosts have to crack some stupid jokes that don’t elicit laughter from the audience. The scenes are edited and shown on TV in a way to show the audience is laughing their lungs out. The entire scheme of things, the actor said, is very unfortunate.

Earlier this year, Saif Ali Khan was involved in a nepotism row, while announcing an award for actor Varun Dhawan for his performance in the film Dishoom. He said that whatever Varun has achieved is because of his father David Dhawan. Varun too shot back saying that Saif has been successful because of his mother, veteran actress Sharmila Tagore. Fimmaker Karan Johar too joined the party and the three shouted, “Nepotism rocks.” All of them were badly trolled on the social media for supporting nepotism.
