Adil Hussain Returns to Bengal Roots in Maati Official Trailer

RBN Web Desk: Accomplished stage and film actor Adil Hussain is all set to be seen in two back to back Bengali films that are slated to release later this year. The actor, who made his Bengali big screen debut with Iti Srikanta in 2004, will be seen in Leena Gangopadhyay and Saibal Banerjee’s film Maati, and in Pratim D Gupta’s Ahare Mon. Maati is Leena’s debut film as a director.

Besides Adil Hussain, Maati has Paoli Dam, Monami Ghosh, Aparajita Adhya, Rishi Kaushik, Chandan Sen, Laboni Sarkar, and veteran actress Sabitri Chattopadhyay in major roles.

According to the director duo, Maati is about the violence, tragedy and the pain of Partition. The film depicts border infringement, refugee crisis, separation of families, and the failure to return home, following the single largest planned displacement of population ever in world history. Their film, Leena and Saibal said, talks about the scars of Partition that have failed to heal even after seven decades of the incident.

The Maati official trailer was released online earlier today.

Music for the film is composed by Debojyoti Mishra.
