Actress Sangeetha Balan Sent to Jail

RBN Web Desk: Popular TV actress Sangeetha Balan was arrested by the police on 2 June for allegedly running a prostitution racket at a resort in Panaiyur. Her partner Sathish was also arrested from the resort on the outskirts of Chennai.

According to senior police officer Mahalakshmi of the city’s anti-vice squad, they received a tip-off that Sangeetha and Satish were running the racket in the resort. Police raided the resort and nabbed both of them. The two lured young women, promising them plum jobs and a chance to appear on TV shows and films, Mahalakshmi said, adding that many girls were rescued during the raid.

Several leading actors are reportedly involved in the racket and the police is investigating in this regard.

Sangeetha and her accomplice were produced before the Egmore chief metropolitan magistrate’s court which remanded them to 15 days in jail.

Sangeetha Balan has appeared in several popular shows like Chellamay Aval, Vani Rani,  and Valli. She made her Tamil film debut with Karuppu Roja (1996).
