Yeti Obhijaan Towers above the Rest This Puja
RBN Web Desk: Srijit Mukherji directed Yeti Obhijaan which released on 22 September, just before the Durga Puja, has raked in the highest box office collections this festive season. It has left two other films that released on the same date by quite a mile.
According to industry sources, Yeti Obhijaan did good business on the pre-Puja days, which increased during the Durga Puja, and continued after Vijaya Dashami as well.
Chief of SVF Entertainment, Mahendra Soni, said that the film is still running to packed houses in Kolkata and the suburbs. The total collection after two weeks is likely to breach the ₹4 crore mark. This is expected to rise further once the pan-India and Nepal collections come in. The success of Yeti Obhijaan has encouraged SVF to produce the third film of the series, to be directed by Srijit again, he said.
The director, on his part, is happy with the performance of the film. Yeti Obhijaan managed to breakeven at the beginning of the second week, courtesy TV, digital, and the Bangladesh distribution rights, along with the in-film branding, he said.
Srijit acknowledged the fact that the film was not liked by a section of the audience. Most people especially children liked Yeti Obhijaan, which is in the action-adventure genre, he said. The most important thing is to draw the audience to the theatre with big screen entertainment, like in the south, Srijit added.

Besides the multiplexes, Yeti Obhijaan has run houseful shows in single-screen theatres like Navina, Mitra, and Priya. Tollywood badly needed a big-time hit this Puja and the film has lived up to the expectations. With major plexes still running multiple shows of Yeti Obhijaan, the film could be one of the biggest blockbusters of the Bengali industry.
