Three Years Later, Still No Trace of Munna Bhai MBBS Actor
RBN Web Desk: Three years since he last spoke to his mother, actor Vishal Thakkar who shot to fame with a seven-minute role in the 2003 film Munna Bhai MBBS, still remains untraceable. At around 10.30pm on 31 December 2015, Vishal borrowed ₹500 from his mother Durga, and left their Mulund flat in Mumbai. At around 1am on 1 January 2016, his father Mahendra got a text message on his phone purportedly from Vishal, which said that he has gone to a party and will see them in the morning. Vishal never returned and his family filed a missing diary with the police.
Vishal, after Munna Bhai MBBS, bagged roles in the 2005 film Tango Charlie and the hugely popular TV serial Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma.
According to the police, his girlfriend was the last to see Vishal at around 11.45am on Ghodbunder Road on 1 January. The actor hailed an autorickshaw for a shoot in Andheri. Soon after, Vishal’s phone went unreachable, and was later switched off. His phone was never switched on again and there was no ransom call. There were no transactions in his bank account since.

Mahendra Puri, the former investigating officer, told the media that Vishal’s girlfriend was the initial suspect. However, no discrepancy was found in her statement, he added.
Vishal’s last call records traced the phone’s location at Ghodbunder Road. Police inspector NA Kulkarni, who later took up the case, said there’s no information on whether Vishal has been kidnapped, murdered, or simply ran away.

Vishal had a brush with the law in November 2015 when he was accused of raping his then girlfriend. The woman lodged a complaint against him at the Charkop police station. However, she withdrew the complaint after a mutual settlement. The controversy dented Vishal’s image and he didn’t get any work in the industry. He went into a depression.
Eight months ago, the woman was found dead in her Kandivali flat.
