Supreme Court Orders to Resume Bhobishyoter Bhoot Screening
RBN Web Desk: The Supreme Court of India, has ordered the West Bengal government to resume the screening of Anik Dutta’s film Bhobishyoter Bhoot. The film released on 15 February but was taken off from multiplexes and single-screen theatres in Kolkata within a day. Theatre owners reportedly cited instructions from a ‘higher authority’ to withdraw the film.
Justice DY Chandrachud, hearing the matter, passed the order today and issued a notice to the West Bengal government in this regard. The apex court instructed the state chief secretary, home secretary and the director general of police to take all necessary steps to resume the film’s public screening in theatres.

The withdrawal of Bhobishyoter Bhoot saw protests from the city’s film and theatre fraternity. A rally to demand the film’s re-release, taken out on 10 March, was joined by the city’s intelligentsia and the public.
