Srijit to Direct a Film Not Scripted by Him
RBN Web Desk: For the first time in his career, director Srijit Mukherji is all set to direct a film which has not been scripted by him. Ever since his directorial debut Autograph (2010), Srijit has written the script for all films he has directed.
The filmmaker recently announced a film tentatively titled Gouranga Itikatha, the script of which is being written by Shibashish Bandopadhyay. The director has roped in actor Jisshu Sengupta to play the title role of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu for the project. It will be a reprisal of sorts for Jisshu who became a household name in the role of the 15th century spiritual leader, in a television serial that was aired back in the nineties.

The film will be bankrolled by the production house that backed Srijit’s Jaatishwar and Chotushkone. Both films released in 2014. Jaatishwar and Chotushkone won four and three national awards respectively.
Gouranga Itikatha is likely to go on the floors this winter and release next year.
