Prosenjit-Rituparna Starrer Pulls Out from Box Office Clash
RBN Web Desk: Just when the audience was waiting for a box office clash between Aniket Chattopadhyay’s big budget action thriller Kabir and Kaushik Ganguly’s Drishtikone on Poila Baisakh—the Bengali New Year—here comes the latest twist in the drama. According to industry reports, the production house bankrolling Ganguly’s project, has decided to pull out the film to avoid divided revenues.
It’s now being heard that the release of Drishtikone, which has Prosenjit Chatterjee and Rituparna Sengupta in the lead, has been pushed pack to 27 April. The Prosenjit-Rituparna starrer was supposed to release on 13 April.

Besides Kabir, which has Bengali superstar Dev in the lead, Anjan Dutt’s musical Aami Ashbo Phirey is also slated for a Poila Baisakh release.
It’s also being rumoured that producer Kaustav Roy may release Shankar Mudi at the same time. Shankar Mudi, interestingly, is directed by Chattopadhyay, and should that happen, two films from the same director will be pitted against each other at the box office.
Shankar Mudi has Ganguly in the title role.

But all said and done, the Prosenjit-Rituparna starrer may not be able to have an entirely free run at the box office when it opens on 27 April. Debutante director Dhrubo Banerjee’s thriller Guptodhoner Sondhaney will release on the same day. The film has Abir Chatterjee and Ishaa Saha in the lead, and will be presented by filmmaker Arindam Sil.
