Srijit Launches Matchcut Productions
Kolkata: Popular Bengali filmmaker Srijit Mukherji has launched his own production house, Matchcut Productions, with technical and infrastructural support from SVF.
Announcing his plans in the city yesterday, Srijit said, “Matchcut Productions has been in existence for some time and we are now going ahead with full-scale operations.”
9 Bengali Films to Look Forward to in 2018
On the anvil are three films and a web-series that Srijit will produce and direct under his banner. These will be over and above the three films—Uma, Ek Je Chhilo Raja, and Kakababur Protyabarton—that the filmmaker is already making for SVF.
The Chotushkone director said that he will hire other filmmakers for projects to be financed by Matchcut Productions.
“I am particularly keen to work with Kaushik Ganguly, Birsa Dasgupta, Arindam Sil, and Anjan Dutt. Maybe Arindam will make the 32nd Shabor film for me,” he said with a smile.

That aside, Matchcut Productions will produce films directed by new talents and Srijit’s long term friends and colleagues, to expand the reach of Bengali cinema.
SVF co-founder Shrikant Mohta said, “We are taking an eight-year old association further by partnering with Matchcut Productions. It’s a joint venture to produce better content for the Bengali audience.”
