Madhabi, Soumitra Invited to Join Academy of Motion Picture
RBN Web Desk: The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) has invited Madhabi Mukherjee and Soumitra Chatterjee to become its members. Every year, the Academy sends invitations to eminent personalities associated with cinema to join its ranks as members.
Besides the two screen legends, the AMPAS has sent similar invitations to sound designer Biswadeep Chatterjee, and production designers Amit Roy and Subrata Chattopadhyay
Others Indians invited to join AMPAS this year include veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah, music composer Usha Khanna, producer-director Aditya Chopra, and actor-producer Shah Rukh Khan.

The AMPAS organises the Academy Awards every year to honour creative and technical merit in filmmaking. The awards are given away in 24 categories at a ceremony in Los Angeles. Auteur Satyajit Ray, who was a mentor for both Madhabi and Soumitra, was honoured with a lifetime achievement award by AMPAS in 1991.
