Kareena Kapoor May Contest Lok Sabha Polls

RBN Web Desk: Popular actress Kareena Kapoor Khan may contest the 2019 Lok Sabha polls from Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh as a Congress candidate. Kareena is married to actor Saif Ali Khan whose hometown Pataudi is in Bhopal. She has visited the city on several occasions.

A group of Congress corporators in Bhopal has pitched Kareena for a party ticket in the upcoming national elections. The group, led by corporator Guddu Chauhan, has also sought an appointment with Madhya Pradesh chief minister Kamal Nath in this regard.

The corporators, it has been learnt, are of the opinion that the Pataudi family has considerable influence in the region. Saif Ali is the son of former India cricket captain Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi and veteran actress Sharmila Tagore. Mansoor Ali had contested the 1991 Lok Sabha polls from Bhopal as a Congress candidate but lost.

The corporators have argued that the constituency has a significant number of young voters who are likely to vote for Kareena than any other politician. The Congress activists have already written to the party’s national leadership to give the ticket to Kareena.

The six-time Filmfare Awards winning actress, however, was not available for comments.
