Jaya, Abir, Kaushik to Return in Bijoya
Kolkata: Jaya Ahsan, Abir Chatterjee, and Kaushik Ganguly are all set to reprise their respective roles in the Bishorjon sequel, titled Bijoya. Directed by Kaushik, Bishorjon released in 2017 to widespread critical and popular acclaim.
Speaking at the launch of the new film in the city yesterday, Kaushik said, “I was tired answering questions on what happened to Nasir after the story in Bishorjon ended. People wanted to know whether he was gunned down by the security forces, and whether Padma was happy after her marriage with Ganesh. These unanswered questions prompted us to come up with the sequel.”
Jaya played Padma in the first film, while Nasir and Ganesh were played by Abir and Kaushik respectively.
While Bishorjon had Nasir crossing the borders to Bangladesh, this time, Padma will come down to Kolkata.
“Bijoya will be an important protest film,” Kaushik said.
Shooting of the film will begin in May, the director said, adding that almost the entire cast of Bishorjon, including Arun Guha Thakurata and Arindam (Lama) Haldar, will be seen in the sequel.
Music for the film will be composed by Indraadip Dasgupta. He will also rearrange some tracks composed by the late singer Kalika Prasad Bhattacharya.
Bijoya is likely to release this Puja.
