Will Tell All in Parveen Babi Biography: Danny
RBN Web Desk: Veteran Bollywood actor Danny Denzogpa has said that he will reveal everything about his relationship with Parveen Babi in a biography on the yesteryear actress. Speaking to a leading Bengali daily from his organic farm in Sikkim, Danny said, he has never denied his relationship with Babi.
The actor, who had his first major break in Gulzar’s 1971 film Mere Apne, the Hindi remake of Tapan Sinha’s national award winning classic Apanjan (1968), said, even his family members know about the relationship he once had with Babi and there’s no hide and seek here.
Sourav Ganguly Biopic Likely Soon
The 70-year old actor said that the author of Babi’s biography wanted to speak him but he has not responded so far. But the time has now come to tell everything, and put all rumours and half-truths to rest, he added.
Several years back, in an interview to a leading film magazine, Danny said that he and Babi lived together for four years and later parted ways. They continued to live in the same neighbourhood in Juhu and were on friendly terms. Amitabh Bachchan had once told in an interview that he and Danny were close friends. That’s when Babi stopped meeting Danny. The next time he went to meet her, she looked through the peephole and refused to let him in, calling the actor Amitabh’s agent. None of the producers and directors who once queued outside Babi’s house to sign the actress for their films, were to be seen in her last days, Danny recalled to the magazine.
Parveen Babi was found dead in her apartment on 22 January 2005. Only a handful of people, including Kabir Bedi, Mahesh Bhatt, Ranjeet, Jhonny Bakshi, and producer Harish Shah (Kala Sona, 1975) were present when the actress was laid to rest the next day.
Danny, meanwhile, is playing the title role in director Dev Medhekar’s Bioscopewala.
The film releases tomorrow.
