The Nishijapon director revealed that he has retained the all-language rights for Khagom, Ashamanjobabur Kukur, Neel Atanka, and a few other Ray stories. Ashamanjobabur Kukur is very cinematic, and can be made into a short film with special effects, he added.
Srijit will meet Sandip again after writing the script for its approval. Further discussions on other Ray short stories are likely to happen then.
It may be recalled that Bollywood director Anurag Basu secured the Hindi film rights for Sonar Kella last year. He got the final script approved by the Ray family after making the suggested changes in the draft.
Srijit will soon start filming the web-series titled X-Ray: Selected Satyajit Shorts.
