Kolkata: Director Anik Dutta’s latest film Bhobishyoter Bhoot has been taken off from almost all multiplexes and single screen theatres in West Bengal. The film opened yesterday to positive reviews.
Dutta alleged to the media that multiplexes are offering a refund of the booked tickets. They have also asked him to take a refund of the exhibition charges paid to screen the film, Dutta said, adding that he has no clue why Bhobishyoter Bhoot has been taken off.
The film is a dark comedy and has reportedly criticised several leading political parties of the state and beyond. Industry experts believe that the criticisms did not go down well with the political quarters and they coerced distributors and hall owners to stop screening the film.
Multiplex and single screen owners, when contacted by RBN, refused to comment on why the film was taken off.
Bhobishyoter Bhoot has an ensemble cast that includes Sabyasachi Chakrabarty, Moon Moon Sen, Chandreyee Ghosh, and Koushik Sen in major roles.
