Ritwick Chakraborty Interested in Meatier Stuff
RBN Web Desk: Is everything well between actor Ritwick Chakraborty and Arindam Sil? The Macher Jhol actor first refused to play Byomkesh Bakshi’s friend Ajit Bandyopadhyay in Byomkesh Gotro, Arindam’ next flick on the fictional detective, based on the story Rokter Daag. Saswata Chatterjee has now returned to play the character. Saswata had earlier played Ajit in the Byomkesh films directed by Anjan Dutt.
Next, Ritwick refused to be a part of Arindam’s Balighawr, an Indo-Bangla production that has an ensemble cast.
According to sources in the industry, it’s a case of friendship gone sour between Ritwick and Arindam.
But others in the industry believe that Ritwick Chakraborty, now an established actor in the Bengali film industry, had grown tired of playing the same character (Ajit) over and over again. He is not getting enough scope to showcase his acting skills, something that all directors acknowledge in unison. In Baligwar too, Ritwick would have to jostle for space among several other actors within a limited screen time. So he decided to quit the two projects.
Ritwick already has his hands full with several films in various stages of production.
