Hum Aapke Hain Koun…! Remake Plan Sparks Internet Protest

RBN Web Desk: There are films and then there are cult films. There are films that become milestones and none could probably deny the fact that Sooraj Barjatya’s Hum Aapke Hain Koun…! will undeniably feature at the top.

But a recent online poll from Rajshri Productions, the company that produced the 1994 film, on whether the audience would like to see Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan or any other pair as the lead in a remake of Hum Aapke Hain Koun…! has left people miffed. Forget the Alia-Varun pairing, fans were angry that a remake of the film was being planned in the first place.

If you can’t come up with new ideas, stop ruining old films that have a special place in people’s hearts, an angry fan wrote of Facebook.

None can replace Madhuri Dixit and Salman Khan, said another person, reacting to the idea.

Some said that casting Varun and Alia would be a disaster as they greatly disappointed the audience in Judwaa 2, a reboot of the 1997 film Judwaa.

The overall sentiment of those who responded to the poll was not to kill a classic.

However, the Rajshri poll never asked whether the audience at all wanted the remake, which perhaps indicates that the house is going ahead with the re-adaptation.
