Rani Rashmoni Reclaims Top Spot
RBN Web Desk: Zee Bangla serial Rani Rashmoni has regained the top spot for the week 22-29 December, according to the numbers released by the Broadcast Audience Research Council India (BARC), the organisation that analyses viewer data and comes up with the television rating points (TRPs).
Rani Rashmoni grabbed pole position among all prime time shows on Bengali general entertainment channels (GECs) with a rating of 11.5. Kusum Dola on Star Jalsha came a close second with 11.3 points. Zee Bangla’s Joyee and Star Jalsha’s Ke Apon Ke Por bagged the third and fourth spots respectively with 10.0 and 9.9 points.
Gopal Bhar, which was at number one since its debut, has slipped out of the top five.
The gross rating point (GRP) of all Bengali GECs remained good for the week under review, despite the year-end festivities and the wedding season in Bengal. Zee Bangla’s GRP is northwards bound after languishing for several weeks. At one point of time earlier this year, the channel trailed Star Jalsha by nearly 300 points. The difference now is less than 100 points with Star Jalsha topping with 824 points and Zee Bangla coming second with 732.

The GRP of a channel has a direct impact on the TRP of its shows. While Rani Rashmoni was the turning point for Zee this year, Joyee, which was first broadcast on 9 October sans much hype, has returned commendable numbers for the channel. Besides, the launch of three brand new serials, were a shot in the arm for Zee.
Shows that bagged the sixth to tenth spots for the week are Bhojo Gobindo (9.3), Gopal Bhar (9.0), Saat Bhai Champa (8.7), Rakhi Bandhan (8.3), and Khokababu (7.8).
