Qaushiq Mukherjee ‘Q’ Back with New Film

RBN Web Desk: Independent filmmaker Qaushiq Mukherjee, more popularly known as Q, is back with a new film. This time, it’s a docu-drama on Bengali author Nabarun Bhattacharya, largely known for his magic realist and anti-establishment prose. The film is titled Nabarun.

Speaking to the media recently, Q said, he has been greatly influenced by Nabarun’s works which is often reflected in the kind of films he makes. It’s surprising that none bothered to make a film on Nabarun, despite the author gaining a cult status among his readers, he added.

The docu-drama was filmed during Naburn’s lifetime and some feature shots were added to complete the film after his death.

The trailer of Nabarun was launched nearly three years back, and the film will be finally shown at a special screening in Kolkata on 23 June, which incidentally is the 70th birth anniversary of the late author.

Nabarun died of intestinal cancer on 31 July 2014.
