Koel Mallick to Join Treasure Hunt

RBN Web Desk: Thrillers are the current flavour of the Bengal box office and directors seem to be more than willing to continue with the trend. Khoj, Yeti Obhijaan, Antarleen, Amazon Obhijaan, Guptodhoner Sondhane; the list is endless.

According to industry sources, director Sayantan Ghosal who made Alinagarer Golokdhadha earlier this year, is all set to start shooting his next treasure hunt film which is tentatively titled Jawker Dhan 2. This one will be a sequel to Jawker Dhan which released in 2017. Rahul Banerjee and Parambrata Chatterjee will reprise their roles as Kumar and Bimal respectively in the new film, sources added.

A source close to the production team disclosed that Koel Mallick has been roped in to join the cast in the sequel. Jawker Dhan had Priyanka Sarkar in a major role. But after Rahul and Priyanka decided to end their marriage, and their relationship far from being friendly, Sayantan is wary of casting them together in the same film. This will probably be Koel’s first treasure hunt film, the source added.

But there are other concerns for the director as well. Parambrata has recently joined the cast of Srijit Mukherji’s upcoming adaptation of Chowringhee where he is playing a key role. The film is tentatively titled Shahjahan Regency. Both Sayantan and Srijit’s film are slated to go on the floors around the same time later this month.  Parambrata had earlier allotted block dates to Sayantan for Jawker Dhan 2.

Alinagarer Golokdhadha had performed well at the box office and returned fairly decent numbers.
