Bollywood-Bound Mouni Roy Gets Emotional

RBN Web Desk: Actress Mouni Roy, who was part of the hugely popular show Naagin, has finally bid goodbye to television and is headed for Bollywood. She will no longer be a part of the upcoming show Naagin 3 and has no qualms in this regard because it’s was her personal choice to move on.

The 32-year old actress, however, shared an emotional message on social media about quitting her television career. In her message she thanked producer Ekta Kapoor for changing her life.

Mouni Roy will make her Bollywood debut with Gold which has Akshay Kumar playing the male lead. It’s a biopic on Balbir Singh (senior), the legendary hockey player who was a member of the team, which won India its first Olympic gold medal as a free country in 1948. The film has Amit Sadh, Nikita Dutta, Kunal Kapoor, Vineet Kumar Singh, and Sunny Kaushal in major roles. Gold is directed by Reema Kagti and music has been composed by Ram Sampath.

Another Bengali Connection to the 2018 Academy Awards

The film is slated to be released on 15 August.

The Cooch Behar-born actress had earlier made a special appearance in a song in the 2004 film Run.
