Are You Playing the Doctor, I was Asked: Anirban Bhattacharya

RBN Web Desk: Popular actor Anirban Bhattacharya has said, people would often ask him whether he was playing the doctor in Srijit Mukherji’s upcoming film Ek Je Chhilo Raja. It was a common question that the actor faced, whenever he told someone of being a part of a film based on the famous Bhawal case, Anirban added.

The actor would then go on to clarify them that he was playing the brother-in-law of the prince of Bhawal, to which people would respond with a ‘Oh, I see’ look, trying to recall whether there was any such role in Sanyasi Raja.

Pijush’s Bose 1975 film Sanyasi Raja was loosely based on the same case, where Rabin Banerjee played the role of the doctor, the main antagonist. The film had Uttam Kumar and Supriya Devi in the lead and was a major box office hit.

Speaking to the media recently on the sidelines of an event in Kolkata, Anirban said, he is playing one of the most important roles in the film. He lends support to the queen during her court case against the person who claims to be the prince of Bhawal and returns after more than a decade after being presumed dead, to demand his share of the estate, the actor said.

Srijit, earlier, had said that Sanyasi Raja was a largely fictional and romanticised version of the incidents involved in the Bhawal estate case. His film, the director said, centres around the facts of the case with thriller elements.
