RBN Web Desk: Putting all speculation to rest, actor-director Farhan Akhtar has finally confirmed that Don 3 is very much on the cards. He has taken a break from signing any new film as an actor, and has finally decided to cater to the demands of the ridiculously loyal fanbase that this hugely popular franchise commands. Don (2006), and Don 2 (2011) were both major box office hits. Farhan is likely to go for a vacation to concentrate on writing the script for Don 3.
The third film of the Don franchise was in the pipeline for long, while people speculated about the cast and the release date. There have been rumours about Deepika Padukone replacing Priyanka Chopra as the female lead in Don 3 on insistence of Shah Rukh Khan. While this is yet to be confirmed, sources close to Farhan have revealed that he has indefinitely put his acting career on the backburner, to channel all energy into the much-anticipated project.
Farhan had earlier admitted that he had an idea, albeit sketchy, for Don 3. He was more committed to his acting assignments like Rock On 2 and Lucknow Central. The Dil Chahta Hai director also had projects of Mohit Suri and Nishikant Kamat to complete.
With all that over, Don 3 is likely to hit theatres late next year.
