Nicole Wellwood, Mother of Evan Leversage, to Attend Uma Premiere
RBN Web Desk: Nicole Wellwood, whose son Evan Leversage’s real-life battle with brain tumour inspired director Srijit Mukherji to make Uma, will come down to Kolkata to attend the film’s premiere.
This is probably the first time that such an incident will happen in a Bengali film premiere.
Seven-year old Evan passed away on 8 December 2015. Before he died, Evan wanted to have one last Christmas, since his doctors feared that the child is unlikely to live until December. In a remarkable act of humanity by its residents, the entire town of St George in Canada, was decorated Christmas-style on 24 October to fulfil Evan’s wish. Hundreds took part in a rally in honour of the child.
Srijit’s film tells the story of a terminally ill girl who wants to organise Durga Puja, the biggest festival in West Bengal, at her home much before the usual time in September-October. His father seeks help and soon people come out in solidarity to realise the girl’s last wish.

Uma releases on 8 June.
