CBI Arrests Shrikant Mohta
Kolkata: Prominent Bengali film producer Shrikant Mohta was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today on charges of a ₹25 crore fraud. He will be taken to Bhubaneswar for questioning.
Mohta allegedly took the amount from Rose Valley founder Goutam Kundu to produce 17 films.
Mohta is the cofounder of SVF, arguably the largest film production house in eastern India. The CBI had earlier summoned him twice to appear for interrogation in connection with the Rose Valley chit fund scam. He did not respond to the notice.

CBI officers were obstructed from entering the SVF office on the 17th floor of Acropolis Mall in south Kolkata today when they went to question Mohta. On arriving at the spot, CBI officers found officials from the Kasba police station waiting there. The police officials told CBI that they had arrived to take preventive action fearing a deterioration in the law and order situation there. CBI, however, claimed that they did not inform the police about their movements.
A CBI official alleged that the police prevented them from quizzing Mohta. The central agency later arrested the producer and took him to the CGO complex for further questioning.
