Abandoned, Pakeezah Actress Geeta Kapoor Dead
RBN Web Desk: Veteran Hindi film actress Geeta Kapoor, who shot to fame for her role in Kamal Amrohi’s 1972 film Pakeezah, passed away at a retirement home in Mumbai today morning. She was 67.
Geeta was allegedly abandoned by her children in May last year at Goregaon’s SRV Hospital. Producer Ramesh Taurani and producer-director Ashoke Pandit took care of the aging actress and paid her medical bills. Her daughter is an airhostess while her son is a choreographer.
Geeta had appeared in more than 100 films mostly in supporting roles. She played a major role in Amrohi’s 1983 film Raziya Sultan which had Hema Malini and Dharmendra in the lead.
She had complained of ill treatment from her children, including physical assault and keeping her unfed.
