In a career spanning more than three decades that includes both films and television, he has played a variety of roles, right from an antagonist to a superhero. While Shah Rukh’s stardom has often overshadowed his acting capabilities, he has proved his detractors wrong time and again, surprising the audience with every new release. Let’s indulge in some cherry picking of some of the best Shah Rukh Khan films.
1. Darr (1993)

The iconic Rahul Mehra and his “I love you K-K-K-Kiran,” is quoted by fans even today. Darr is often considered one of the best films of director Yash Chopra. The film had Shah Rukh playing a role, the intensity of which was almost scary most of the time. It was a film where the actor showed both the menacing and vulnerable side of the character he played. And if your heart went out to Rahul, notwithstanding his eccentricity, it had a lot to do with the superstar’s acting capabilities.
2. Baazigar (1993)

His first major breakthrough that also launched the hit Shah Rukh-Kajol pair. The actor proved his mettle by playing an antihero for the first time. Shah Rukh stepped in when Salman Khan and Armaan Kohli refused directors Abbas-Mustan to play a character that was largely negative. Shah Rukh, playing the nonconventional hero, stood out and was noticed. It won him his first Filmfare Award for the best actor, and there has been no looking back since.
3. Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa (1994)

The second collaboration between director Kundan Shah and Shah Rukh and the result was a film that wowed the critics. It’s the actor’s personal favourite and we know why. You don’t exactly like Shah Rukh as Sunil in the film. He suffers from big-time insecurity and is plain jealous. But once the end-credits start rolling, deep inside, we feel sympathetic towards him. Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa is universally accepted as one the best Shah Rukh Khan films.
Very well-composed..! Keep writing Swati!!
