Sunny Leone Trolled on Bengali Debut
RBN Web Desk: Bollywood actress Sunny Leone, whose career has largely boiled down to performing in item songs in Hindi films, has faced a lot of flak on the social media ahead of her Tollywood debut. The sultry actress appears in an item song in director Swapan Saha’s comeback film Sera Bangali, slated to hit theatres later this year.
The video of the song Chaap Nis Na, was released on YouTube on 7 September and has since been widely trolled on the video sharing portal and social media.
According to industry sources Sunny Leone has been reportedly paid ₹1 crore to appear in the item song.
But the audience have been all but kind to Sunny. While one of them criticised the weird blue dress she wears in the songs, others have been more harsh, saying that such item songs are taking back Bengali films by a few decades.
Quite surprisingly, the song has been choreographed by Prabhudeva and is certainly not among his better works. The song was shot in Mumbai.
Some viewers have questioned Rajpal Yadav, the male lead, who appears alongside Sunny Leone in the song and struggles to match steps with her. Others said, with Sunny Leone charging an astronomical fee by Bengali film standards, the producer was not left with much money to cast a good looking male lead.
Sunny Leone has worked in several Hindi films like Shootout At Wadala, Jism 2, Singh is Bliing, Raees, Mastizaade, Noor, and others but couldn’t cut much ice with her acting skills. She has also appeared in Kannada (DK) and Tamil (Current Theega) films.
Shera Bangali also has Ulka Gupta, Kaushik Banerjee, Shakti Kapoor and Laboni Sarkar in key roles.
Sunny Leone has performed an item number in actor Sanjay Dutt’s comeback film Bhoomi. The film, directed by Omung Kumar, is an emotional journey of a father-daughter relationship.
