RBN Web Desk: Wikipedia, the world’s largest free digital encyclopedia and usually the first stop for all information hunters, has created a major faux pas with filmmaker Rituparno Ghosh’s 2004 film Raincoat. The film is widely considered one of the best performances of Aishwarya Rai.
Raincoat was adapted from American writer William Sydney Porter aka O Henry’s classic 1905 short story The Gift of the Magi.
In a strange development, Wikipedia mentions Srinjoy Bhattacharya as the music director of the Rituparno Ghosh film. However, the truth is, Debjojyoti Mishra had composed the music for Raincoat.
Wikipedia goes on to add that Srinjoy experimented with the film’s music.
The online encyclopedia is publicly editable but information posted on its website is subject to editorial scrutiny. How the issue escaped the eyes of the editorial board remains a mystery.
Besides Aishwarya, Raincoat had Ajay Devgn and Annu Kapoor in major roles.
